Hideaway Covers is consistently being recognised as having the the best products and business of its type in Australia.  You can read about our awards here.

Australian Made: Every Hideaway product is 100% Australian Made and Manufactured. Our components are primarily premium quality Australian made products. On rare occasions due to Australian material supply shortages however, sometimes components have to be sourced from overseas. When this happens, our manufacturer’s overseas suppliers are stringently required to comply with Australian Standards.

Design: all of our products are professionally and locally designed following over 30 years of both domestic and commercial experience designing and servicing customers’ needs for these niche products.

Engineered frames: frames are mostly 50x50x1.9mm aluminium square section to provide added strength and structural integrity for your frame, lid, and doors.

For our pool pump covers we use a 50x50mm engineer-designed, fully welded, inverted, U-frame for the lid’s proper structural support together with the sides.  We do not use lightweight angle that twists every time the lid is opened. Angle works in the short term, but fails over time.

Fully framed doors & gates: all of our doors and gates are fully framed, mitred, and welded for strength and appearance. Non-framed doors (slat panels with no top or bottom) will sag and twist over time causing them to become out of square and create on-going problems. These are meant for fixed panels and not doors or gates.

Strength: all Hideaway’s products use 65x16x1.4mm aluminium slats with a centre reinforcing rib for additional strength.

Precision: we use notional 10mm gap between slats across the full Hideaway range. The only exception is our premium elliptical blades for Air Conditioner Hideaways which have a 40mm gap between blades. Different gap sizes (not for air conditioners) from 5mm to 20mm can be provided as a special order – use ‘Contact Us’ for prices and details.

Welded: all slats are welded, and not loose fitted, screwed, or riveted.

Quality: top-quality, durability, strength, virtually maintenance-free, and longevity are all hallmarks of each Hideaway product. Lifecycle is 50+ years.

What we don’t do: Hideaway Covers are premium quality products and we do NOT compromise our products by –

  • using light-weight and undersized frames that twist;
  • using thin sheet-metal;
  • using bits ‘n pieces of angle to make-do; or
  • using lots of Tek screws to hold things together.

Compare: look for these shortcomings in photos when comparing suppliers. There is a reason why others might be cheaper than Hideaway – these are all inferior ways of trying to fix a design flaw. This is not the Hideaway way. We know our customers want quality – not shortcuts.

Custom Design: we specialise in custom designed jobs to ensure that your enclosure exactly meets your requirements. Quotations for custom designed projects are valid for 30 days from date of issue (unless stated otherwise).  Once a quote is accepted, a tax invoice will be issued with payment due within five business days.

Beware of backyard fencers: many local fence installers say they can build you an enclosure and often give a cheap price.  Some of these contractors may be good fence installers (we know because we dealt with so many of them), but that does not mean that they know how to design and build a quality enclosure.  If fact, they always rely on a salesperson behind a desk to come up with a design and price – they try to copy Hideaway’s design but without the finer details that make up the quality of Hideaways.  Caveat Emptor ” let the buyer beware.” – a cheap price is a cheap price for a reason.

Hideaway Covers’ products are available in 27 contemporary Colorbond® colours (including the three new colours recently released) at no extra cost as shown on each page. Click here to see our full range of colours. Surfmist is the default, satin, off-white (true to colour) used for all products shown on this website.

All our products are shown in every available colour. Simply click on the colour you decide upon as part of your product selection.

Our manufacturer has their own powder coating facility to ensure high-quality, Interpon matching Colorbond® finishes are applied to every Hideaway product.  This ensures that you can match your Hideaway product to any existing Colorbond® items around your pool, home, or commercial project.

If you are unsure of which colour to choose, see our Blog on Colour Selection. Colorbond® colour samples are readily available from any Bunnings store. Colours shown on our website may vary based upon your device’s screen and settings.

Yes. Most Hideaway products have been designed to be free standing and can be secured to your surface. Some items identified as “wall-mount” are required to be fixed directly to a house or retaining wall for their structural integrity. Some products have the option of bolt-down to an existing surface, or, in-ground posts for concreting.

Hideaway uses V-joint or zero gap lids (where supplied) for weather proofing especially on our toy boxes and pool pump covers.

Panels and doors that are not zero-gap will have a 10mm air gap between slats.  Zero gap lids are rain-proof and whilst the slat sides are not rain-proof, they do severely restrict any rain from entering.

The key feature of Hideaway Covers is to ensure that harmful weather – rain and UV – is minimised to protect your contents whilst still providing adequate ventilation for cooling and drying.

Yes. Every state has an Environmental Protection Act (or similar) which limits the amount of noise a pool pump can make – just like air conditioning motors. For this reason, some councils suggest the installation of a sound-reducing enclosure or cover over your pool pump.

Hideaway pool pump covers with zero-gap lids are designed to specifically reduce noise from your pool pump, filter, and pipework. Check with your local council for any specific regulations.

Read our in-depth analysis of pool pump noise and what this means in our Resources tab (Some Local Councils use this article as an authoritative reference site for their customers).

Yes. Hideaway’s manufacturer offers a six-year manufacturer’s warranty on materials fabricated for all our covers and enclosures giving you peace of mind.  We do not however provide any warranty on the installation of items that you install such as struts, feet, screws, hinges, latches.

This manufacturer’s warranty is limited in accordance with AS3715 for Harsh Marine Environments for locations less than 1.5kms from the ocean. If required, Interpon can provide 20 and 30 year powder coating warranties (D2015, D3020) for special orders which are within 5kms of harsh marine environments.  Our Resources tab has an in-depth article on this topic.

Our Australian made struts have a three year manufacturers warranty.

Placing an order

Measure the height, depth, and width and find the closest Hideaway size. See our measurement diagram here. If in doubt, order the next size up from your measurements.  Do not make it a tight fit.

All measurements shown on this site are external sizes. To get internal measurements, deduct 50mm for each panel.

Remember to allow plenty of room around pipes and electrical outlets as well as a sloping lid (around 70mm drop from back to front) on pool pump enclosures.

If you need a customised size or for larger projects and commercial / industrial orders, please contact us and a quotation (valid for 30 days) will be issued.

For custom sizes please include the following on the Contact Us form: sizes required; colour; bolt-down or free standing posts; and photos of what you are enclosing.

Ordering is very easy and transparent. Our sizes, options, and prices are all clearly shown for each product. You don’t need to “send us your details to get a quote” (unless it is a custom design).

The options available for each product are shown on their respective product page.  Colour selection and size are essential for all orders.

All gates/doors come supplied with a quality T-latch, concealed colour matched hinges, and bespoke stainless steel screws for concealed hinges – as well as Tec screws for open or butterfly hinges. Other options may include: in-ground post or bracket/base plate feet; rear panels; doors/gates; lockable latch; VJ lid; posts.

Delivery costs are clearly shown once you enter your postcode.

If you need a custom size/design for any product, just send us photos of the area and your measurements, and we’ll get a quote back to you.

We only accept electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments with the added benefit to you of no fees.

Following the ban on adding credit card fees, we no longer offer credit/debit card transactions as our merchant charges us 1.8% of the sale price in credit card processing fees.  This added between $40 – $100 in fees onto the cost of  any Hideaway purchased using credit cards.  As less than 7% of our customers used credit card as their payment method, we appreciated that the majority of customers preferred to save money by opting for EFT payments.

Rather than increasing the cost of all Hideaway’s products to cover this credit card processing fee, we have decided to only accept EFT payments and to NOT increase the costs of Hideaway Covers’ products.

Direct deposit (EFT) payments are very simple. Just use our invoice number and your last name as the payment reference. Our BSB and account number is clearly printed on our quotations and tax invoices.

Once we have received your payment, your specific order is sent for CAD drawings. After QA checking, it is  approved for manufacturing which takes around three weeks.  If you have a custom order, you will receive the CADs for your review and approval.

Your tax invoice has printed on it the unique product passcode for you to download the full assembly instructions from this website (click on “Assembly.”) Pool pump covers and toy boxes have as-built photos of strut locations to assist you.

Finally, the delivery team will contact you with the estimated delivery date, and then you will receive SMS texts updating you in real time of the exact delivery time on the day of the delivery.

Your Hideaway is then delivered to your home or business address.

If your Hideaway has a lid with gas struts, our supplier will post the struts directly to you, and we will post any additional components that you may require (stainless-steel screws, stoppers, assembly instructions etc).  For further details about delivery, please see Delivery and Returns.

Yes. EFT payments are bank-to-bank electronic transactions and are protected by both bank’s encoded security systems.  It may take 1-3 days for your transaction to appear in our bank account, but we use CommBank who have one of the fastest processing times.

As soon as your funds are received by us, we will process your order.

EFT payments also remove the risk that many consumers are worried about regarding scams and data breeches through third party processors.

EFT is also the preferred method of payment for most customers when purchasing larger dollar products such as Hideaway Covers.

Assembly

Hideaway covers and enclosures are professionally designed for easy, DIY, self-assembly.  Each Hideaway has been pre-fabricated just like “IKEA flat-packed,” BUT with easier-to-follow assembly instructions and schematic diagrams.

Bonus: Pool pump covers and toy boxes also have as-built photos on the website to assist you and provide reassurance (use your unique passcode on your tax invoice to access the Assembly section of our website).  Our very popular Hideaway Toy Boxes even have a short “how to assemble” video on our website.

We’ve put a great deal of design work into our pre-fabricated covers and enclosures to ensure they are superior to anything else on the market. This means easier assembly for you, and a better finished – better looking product.

Our products have pre-set sizes and dimensions as shown on the respective product pages which match nearly all popular sizes of the item you want to cover.  All products are screwed together with Tek screws.

Depending on the product selected, it could take as little as 30mins for the Pool Cleaner Cover, up to around 2 hours for the more detailed Pool Pump Cover.

If you need a customised size or for larger projects and commercial orders, please contact us.

Anyone who has some basic DIY skills can assemble Hideaway covers and enclosures.

Whilst no panels are particularly heavy, it is easier to manage if two people are involved in lifting and positioning with one person holding, the other screwing/fixing.  Larger products such as the Pool Pump Cover definitely require two people.

All the components that you need to assemble your Hideaway are included, except your choice of fixings for any feet or wall-mounting (available from any hardware store).

After you purchase your Hideaway, we will email your tax invoice/receipt which also contains the unique product assembly passcode. Simply  come back to this site, click on “Assembly” and enter your passcode .

You can download the specific detailed assembly instructions for your product including a schematic diagram of “How to Assemble.”  ‘As assembled’ photos to assist you are also available in this section for products requiring struts.

We also post a copy of the assembly instructions to you (not including any photos).

You will need a selection of the following tools:

  • Spirit level.
  • Battery drill with 5/16” Tek screw driver bit and Phillips head driver bit (PH2).
  • Masonry or wood drill bit for fixing the bracket feet-base plates to the surface (where applicable).
  • Tape measure, pencil, hammer, and masking tape.
  • (Optional – but very handy) large vice grip, quick action, C-clamp (usually for welding) or window sash clamp to hold components together whilst inserting screws.

As we supply nationally, we are not able to offer an on-site measuring or installation service for Hideaway products. If you are not confident in measuring, ordering, or assembling your purchase, contact us for guidance or engage the services of an experienced installer such as: a pool fencing contractor; Jim’s FencingAir TaskerHire-a-Hubbya local fencing contractor, or a carpenter. Any of these will be able to assist you.

We supply very detailed assembly instructions and schematic drawings to ensure that the assembly process is straight-forward.

Anyone with basic handyman skills and a few tools can assemble Hideaway’s products by following the assembly instructions.

Our Assembly instructions have been QA approved by our professional engineer.

Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. Don’t worry. If a problem occurs, we sort it and fix it. We want you to enjoy assembling your cover or enclosure and in the unlikely event that you do run into any problems, just email us and we’ll do all we can to assist you.

Delivery and returns policy

Metro & Major Centres: We deliver to most Australian capital cities and immediate surrounds including major regional centres. Generally, we deliver to around a 100km radius from major city hubs. Enter your postcode at checkout to obtain the delivery cost for your location.

Regional: For regional Australia (those that are more than 100kms from our hubs), we use Toll, or the most reputable least cost courier, to deliver to your nearest town depot where you can collect from. If you don’t have access to a ute or trailer to pick-up from the depot, just Hire-a-Ute from your local Bunnings for one or two hours – it’s very cost effective.

Simply use the Contact Us form and we’ll get you our best delivery estimate. We can’t provide a quote until the job is finished and ready to ship – but we can give a reliable estimate as at today’s rate (this is usually the same or very close to the actual price at the time of shipping).  All our regional deliveries include transport insurance to cover you in the rare event of any damage in transit.

Pick-up: We do not offer click-and-collect or pick-ups (other than for regional couriers).

All orders come fully protected in plastic wrap and are strapped on pallets. For regional deliveries we sometimes ship without pallets as it is more cost effective.

Delivery: For safety reasons, metro deliveries are to your kerbside or closest safe place within one metre of the road or front driveway as this is as far as our Hi-Ab crane reaches.  The size of the delivery truck does not allow it to deliver to backyards. Two people can easily relocate the panels.

Unwrapping: You are required to remove the plastic wrapping as soon as practical. If left wrapped for any length of time (particularly in the sun), white marks from sweating may appear on your product. This is not a product defect and is not covered by our warranty.

AusPost: If your product contains a lid, gates, or doors, we will have the struts and any minor parts such as our bespoke stainless-steel screws sent to you separately via Australia Post.

All customers get posted assembly instructions for their product in addition to the website download option at the Assembly tab.

Enter your postcode at checkout to obtain the delivery cost.

Distribution hubs are located at:

QLD: Brisbane (Crestmead, Richlands, Brendale, Eagle Farm, Burpengary), Maroochydore

NSW: Sydney (Paramatta, Campbelltown, Mt Druitt), Newcastle, Central Coast

VIC: Melbourne (Campbellfield, Truganina), Dandenong

WA: Bibra Lake, Wangara

A flat rate of $125 applies for deliveries within approximately a 40km radius around the hubs listed above. For deliveries to SA, NT, ACT, TAS, contact us for a courier’s estimate/quote.

Delivery to regions approximately 40 – 100km from the above hubs has a sliding delivery charge of between $170 – $340.  Entering your postcode at checkout will give you the exact rate.

A delivery estimate can be provided for you before ordering, however the actual rate cannot be quoted until after the job has been manufactured.  Only then can we get the best available quote for you based on actual pallet size and weight.  Simply email us with details of your product selection and location and we’ll get you our best delivery estimate. Depending on the product, it may be cheaper to ship without a pallet.

Our contracted couriers, Toll or the least cost reputable courier, only deliver to the nearest town depot and you will need to arrange your own pick-up from that depot.  Regional couriers do not deliver to your home address.

Alternatively, you can arrange your own courier to collect from our nearest hub listed above.

If you enter your postcode at the checkout and a message appears saying “Get delivery quote” we will work with you to provide the most cost-efficient delivery.  Just email us with details and we’ll get you a reliable delivery estimate.

If you are happy with our delivery estimate, we will issue you a separate invoice for the delivery component when your job is ready to ship.  You pay for the order as normal either through the website for standard orders or we issue an invoice for custom orders. Then when the job is finished, you simply pay the delivery invoice separately and once funds have ben received, we ship the job.

Your job cannot be shipped until the delivery cost has been paid.

If you paid via direct deposit (EFT), debit Card, Google Pay or Apple Pay, then:  No. No-one needs to be on-site to sign for delivery. Our driver will take a photo as proof of delivery.

If you paid via credit card, then:  Yes. The delivery driver will need to sight and record the Driver’s License details of the person who is receiving the goods on-site. This is to protect both you and us from credit card fraud.

If no-one will be available to be on-site when delivery is made, and you paid by credit card, then you can email us an authorisation, in advance, to leave your job on-site unattended (use the Contact Us form). You accept the risk of us leaving your order at the delivery address that you provided.

The driver will take a photo of the goods delivered as proof of delivery for our records.

If you don’t provide ‘approval to leave’ in advance, the order may be returned to our hub and you will incur a second re-delivery fee.

IMPORTANT: We do not leave a credit card paid order on-site without either a pre-authorisation to do so, or someone with ID who signs for the delivery. Again, this is for your and our protection to avoid credit card fraud.

No. Anyone can sign for receipt of the job, as long as the delivery driver can sight and record details from a driver’s licence (or ID) of the person signing for the goods.  This protects you and us to ensure that the person who takes receipt of the goods is traceable.

Yes. Our delivery trucks use real time delivery tracking. You will receive an SMS message advising of a two hour window for your delivery (E.g. “your delivery will be between 8am and 10am”). You will then receive a further notice 30 minutes before delivery, and again when the truck is just 10 minutes away. Wherever possible, delivery staff will try to fit in with any special requests for delivery. Note that deliveries are made to the kerbside or nearest safe and convenient spot to unload.

For most of Hideaway’s products you will receive two deliveries. The first is the Hideaway cover or enclosure you have purchased which will be delivered on a pallet by truck.

The second is a small parcel containing the assembly instructions and/or stainless steel screws for doors/gates and any minor parts.

For orders with struts (toy box and pool pump covers), there will be an additional delivery sent directly to you from our Australian gas strut supplier which contains the engineer designed bespoke gas struts and brackets required for fitting the gas struts to the lid and frame.

No. We do not collect packaging nor the pallet the product comes on. In keeping with our sustainability practices, the plastic wrapping can be disposed of in your recycling bin, and the pallet can be used for off-ground storage, re-purposed, used for firewood, or recycled.

As each order is custom made, Hideaway Covers Pty Ltd does not offer any returns, exchanges or refunds for incorrect orders (for any reason) or change of mind.  The only returns or refunds considered eligible are those required by Australian consumer law where the product is faulty.  Delivery costs are not refundable.

In the event of any actual or perceived product fault, the customer must first take photos of the alleged fault and forward these in the first instance to Hideaway Covers.

Very rarely, a minor scratch, blemish, or a coloured spot splatter may occur during the production or transport process.  Most of these are considered minor imperfections by industry standards and can be readily fixed with matching spay touch-up paint.  Unless substantial, they are not considered to be a defect requiring replacement of the entire panel.

If the alleged fault is accepted by our manufacturer, the customer may either return the damaged panel as directed to their nearest distribution hub, or accept any financial compensation which may be offered.  If a replacement panel is agreed, it will be ordered at no cost to the customer.

Re-delivery and/or pickup of any replacement panel will be at the sole discretion of Hideaway’s manufacturers.
